This standard specifies the safety technical requirements for the design, manufacture, use, maintenance and management of aerial work machineries.
This standard is applicable to aerial work platforms and trucks. It can also be used as a reference for other aerial work machineries.

The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. At time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below.

3 Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following definitions are used.
3.1 aerial work machinery
Approved by Ministry of Construction of the People’s Republic of China on 1998-06-23
Implemented on 1998-12-01
A general designation of special engineering trucks and equipments (including aerial work platforms and trucks) used to convey personnel and apparatuses to the specified height.
3.2 levelling mechanism
A mechanism used to maintain the platform in horizontal position during the operation of the complete machine.
3.3 stabilizer
A device used to maintain the stability of the aerial work machinery and not capable of levelling the complete machine.
