4. Package
4.1 General

4.1.1 The package shall be able to protect the product from any loosening, damp, deformation or damage during normal transportation and storage.

4.1.2 The packaging method of all kinds of products shall comply with the provisions of relevant product standards. If there is lack of clear provision in the relevant product standards, the packaging can be carried out according to the provisions of this national standard and the package types shall be clearly indicated in the contract. If it's not indicated, then the package shall be selected by the seller. The buyer shall be liable to provide its requirements on protective packaging materials as well as information about unloading method and relevant equipment.

4.1.3 Other packaging method can be also used upon the negotiation between the buyer and the seller.

4.1.4 For the purpose of this national standard, the classification of steel products shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 15574.

4.2 Packaging material

4.2.1 The packaging material shall comply with the provisions of the relevant standards and laws & regulations on environmental protection. For the purpose of this national standard, the quality of those materials that are not involved or clearly specified shall comply with the predetermined purposes. The packaging material can be changed with the development of technology and economy.

4.2.2 After the products are delivered, the buyer will face the problem of disposal of the packaging material. Therefore, the packaging material used in the package shall be simple and effective, and easy to be disposed and recycled by sort.

4.2.3 Protective packaging material
When packaging, the protective packaging material is designed to (1) prevent the invasion of moisture; (2) decrease the oil lost as much as possible; (3) protect the product from being stained; (4) prevent damage of product due to bumping. The common protective packaging materials include anti-rust paper, anti-rust film, plastic film, corrugated paper and fiberboard, etc.

4.2.4 Auxiliary packaging material
The purpose of using auxiliary packaging materials during packaging is to avoid damage of the protective packaging material or avoid damage of steel plates (coils) caused by the protective packaging material. The common auxiliary packaging materials include corner protector, locker and cushion.

4.2.5 Package strapping
The package shall be strapped with package strapping. The package strapping can be either narrow strip or steel wire. The strapping can be locked with or without locker.

4.2.6 Protective coating
During transportation and storage, when selecting preservative agents to protect the steel products, the application method, coating thickness and removal easiness shall be considered. The species of the protective coating shall be determined by the seller. If the buyer has special requirements, the requirements shall be clearly indicated in the contract.
